Future Health in Health Service Journal on Government’s healthcare reform challenges

Richard Sloggett, Founder and Programme Director at Future Health has written for the Health Service Journal on the challenges facing the Government’s health reforms.

Richard’s article looks at three challenges:

  • The funding problems in public health and social care are a major barrier to effective integration
  • The bureaucracy busting narrative is difficult to sell when new bureaucracy is being built, and it is being moved away from local areas and MPs into a more regional tier
  • The short term politics presents difficulties for Labour in opposing the Bill that the NHS supports, but medium term difficulties for the Government in tying them closer to health service performance
